Nick Cordero's wife Amanda Kloots shares 'some improvements' after new treatment technique

Nick Cordero's wife shared a new health update Tuesday, citing "some improvements" for the Broadway star, who has been hospitalized for almost two months after suffering complications from the coronavirus.

"They saw some success with proning Nick," Amanda Kloots said on her Instagram Stories, referring to a treatment technique being used amid the pandemic, where a patient is placed flat on their stomach with their chest and face down, as opposed to laying on their back, according to Health.com. "So they are going to continue doing that with him... There’s like 16-20 hour intervals that they do that. They are seeing some improvements with his oxygen and gas exchange rates when they do that. So that was really good and promising."

Kloots said her husband has also been given "new antibiotics" and "a high dose of vitamin C" to aid his immune system. "All these little things seem to be slowly helping," she said.

She also took a moment to acknowledge the "absolutely amazing" doctors and nurses at Cedars-Sinai hospital in Los Angeles, who are "working so hard to research and find anything and everything that could be possibly a help to Nick."

"We are on day 56 of being in the ICU with Nick," Kloots added in her update. "Wow! My husband, he is a fighter. He is fighting so hard, and I can’t imagine how exhausted he is and how tired his body is.

"He has been through so much, but he has defied the odds," she added. "I mean Nick has literally defied odds, and I think there’s somethin’ to that. You don’t go through all of this to not make it through all of this. And I just think about him, and I think about how tired and exhausted he must be, and it helps me to be like, 'OK if he can do it, I can do this.' I can keep fighting, I can keep hoping, I can keep cheering him on, I can keep singing."

On Monday Kloots shared that her husband is "doing slightly better than yesterday" but added that he is "still very sick and battling a lot."

“They turned him to a proning position today to open his airways," she said.

"He has had this before and it helped a lot," Kloots explained. "They also cleaned his lungs out again to help fight the infection.”

She continued, “He is and has been COVID negative now for weeks. What he is and has been dealing with is the (fallout) from the virus and from infections that arise from being in the ICU as long as he has.”

She also asked her followers to continued praying for Cordero.

Last week, Kloots said Cordero was making a positive comeback after things went "a little downhill" earlier that week.

“So one of the things that I have learned about this whole process is the land of the ICU is one step forward, two steps back,” she explained. “And that’s kind of what happened to us in these last couple 24 hours. But I'm happy to say that it looks like we’re on a step forward again."

She continued, “Wow, It’s been another roller coaster but this one goes out to the doctors and nurses at Cedars-Sinai, the power of prayer and the power of energy and support...” she said. “Positivity is, I’m sorry, in my opinion, unsurmountable.”

On May 12, Kloots shared a major milestone: Cordero woke up after spending more than a month in a medically induced coma from complications of the coronavirus.

The Broadway star was admitted to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles in late March for what was initially thought to be pneumonia, Kloots wrote on Instagram. An initial test came up negative, though a subsequent test was positive for COVID-19.

Over the course of several weeks, Cordero faced several coronavirus complications, including a leg amputation and the insertion of a temporary pacemaker.
