Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra Want to Have *at Least* Two Kids

Yesterday, we officially added “pulling off a completely under-the-radar pregnancy” to Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra’s love story highlight reel. Nick and Priyanka confirmed that they recently welcomed their first child together via a surrogate in identical Instagram posts on Friday.

“We are overjoyed to confirm that we have welcomed a baby via surrogate,” they wrote in the statement. “We respectfully ask for privacy during this special time as we focus on our family. Thank you so much.”

Considering the fact that the statement really explicitly asks for privacy and makes it clear that Nick and Priyanka plan to give their growing family their full attention for the time being, we’re not expecting a ton in the way of additional updates from the new parents. A source close to the couple did divulge a few fleeting details about the joyous occasion to Us Weekly on Friday though (emphasis on the “few and fleeting” part).

According to the Us Weekly source, Priyanka and Nick’s “friends are excited” for them, which is great, obviously, but also exactly what you would expect from friends of pretty much any new parents. Before you roll your eyes and swipe away, the source’s second tidbit wasn’t a pure “duh, that’s common sense” detail. The insider also gave some insight into the couple’s future plans for their growing fam, which they apparently want to grow even more. Specifically, the source said Nick and Priyanka want to have “at least two children” someday.

Priyanka and Nick have both been open about their desire to start a family. In a January 2021 interview with the Sunday Times, Priyanka said, “I do want children, as many as I can have.” In March of that year, Nick opened up about the subject in an interview with Zane Lowe. “[Having kids] is certainly something we’re both looking forward to,” Nick said when asked if he wanted to become a dad. “And know that it’ll happen when it’s supposed to and we’re ready for that.”

In a new interview for the February 2022 issue of Vanity Fair, Priyanka reiterated her feelings about starting a family, describing children as “a big part of [her and Nick’s] desire for the future.”
