Nick McGlashan, a cast member of the hit Discovery series "Deadliest Catch," died recently in Nashville, Tennessee.

Forensic Medical Management of Nashville confirmed to NBC News that they were in possession of Glashan's remains but were unable to comment further pending an investigation.

The "Deadliest Catch" cast member started crabbing at age 13 and was a seventh-generation fisherman who grew up in Alaska, according to his Discovery biography.

Glashan struggled with drug and alcohol abuse issues and was kicked off the show's thirteenth season for it, ending up in rehab, the bio says.

"Though he’s had his ups and downs, Nick has battled endlessly to stay sober and embrace a new sober lifestyle and is now so committed to his recovery that he inspires others in their own," it continued.

On Monday, the network paid tribute. “Our deepest sympathy goes out to Nick’s loved ones during this difficult time,” a Discovery Channel spokesperson said in a statement. “Nick came from a long line of crabbers and was known for his great depth of knowledge. He also had a sharp sense of humor even in the most difficult conditions. He will be deeply missed by all those who knew him.”
