Back in June Alabama announced that it had agreed to a contract extension with head football coach Nick Saban. Earlier today, members of the Alabama board of trustees approved of the extension, and the details of the contract were released.

With the extension, Saban will remain in Tuscaloosa until at least February 2029. The seven-time national championship head coach is set to become the first college coach to reach $10 million in annual compensation in 2023-24.

The details that were first reported by The Tuscaloosa News are as follows:

His base salary will remain $275,000. His talent fee for 2020-21 was $8.425 million and has grown at a rate of $400,000 annually. It will reach $11.225 million in the final year of the extension.

Saban will also receive an $800,000 completion benefit each year through 2025 upon finishing each season.

Saban has amassed a 170-23 record at Alabama over 14 seasons, winning six national championships and seven SEC championships.
