Alabama Crimson Tide head coach, Nick Saban, and ESPN’s highest-paid employee and well-known media personality, Stephen A. Smith, have had a long-standing relationship on and off the air. Saban will occasionally appear on First Take with Smith throughout the year and the two of them are always having fun.

Smith spent the last month off of the air while he was recovering from a shoulder surgery that took place in July. Smith returned to the air this week, and Coach Saban was there to congratulate him, as well as give him a little gig.

In the short message tweeted out by Alabama Football, Saban says, “Stephen A., we are all happy to have you back on First Take after your surgery and we are pleased you are doing well, but, there is a question about how much time do you need off? You know I had my hip replaced and I was back at work the next day, and I realized they don’t make them like they used to, and some people just do anything to get a day off, but god luck and God bless my friend.”

After Saban stops talking, it cuts to a scene of Smith laughing hysterically at Saban’s light-hearted humor.
