Nicolas Cage confirms he has married Riko Shibata

Face/Off star Nicolas Cage has confirmed that he recently welcomed his fifth marriage, this time to his partner Riko Shibata.

A representative for Nicolas confirmed to People that the couple got married last month (February 16) in Las Vegas, sharing that this particular date holds significant meaning to the couple.

"The date was chosen to honor the birthday of the groom's late father," the rep said.

Cage also confirmed the news, later adding: "It's true, and we are very happy."

The event was described in the representative statement as a very small and intimate wedding that took place in the private courtyard of the Wynn Hotel, being decorated with flowers, candles and fairy lights.

Riko wore a handmade Japanese bridal kimono that had three layers and Nicolas was wearing a Tom Ford tuxedo.

Riko's entrance music was Winter Song by Kiroro, which is thought to be one of the bride's favourite songs. For the ceremony vows, the couple shared both traditional Catholic and Shinto vows, there was also haiku and poetry from Walt Whitman read during the event.

Some of the couple's closest friends and family attended the wedding and Nicolas' representative confirmed that his ex-wife Alice Kim was also in attendance.

"After the wedding, the happy couple [were] joined for a small celebration attended by Nicolas' ex-wife, Alice (who he remains very good friends with) and their son Kal."
