Nicolas Cage’s Former Home Hits the Market for $10.95 Million

The National Treasure actor lived there from 2006 to 2008 and is believed to have purchased the Gothic-style home for $9.4 million

Nicolas Cage’s eccentric former San Francisco home has returned to the market after failing to land a buyer back in 2017 and is now up for an asking price of $10.95 million. Cage lived in the residence, located in San Francisco’s Russian Hill neighborhood, between 2006 and 2008; he reportedly purchased the six-bedroom, six-and-a-half-bathroom abode for $9.4 million and sold it at a loss two years later for $7.7 million.

The four-story Tudor Revival–style home is just eccentric enough to require the right buyer with the right aesthetic, though the detailing both outside and inside the home are downright breathtaking. On the outside, Gothic stonework, stained glass windows, and a wrought-iron gate protecting the front door reinforce the home’s historic charm; once indoors, the grand foyer offers up an impressive first impression to the home, which spans 6,305 square feet. The first floor features a formal dining room and living room (which boasts not one but two Gothic-inspired chandeliers), a cozy library with a wood-burning fireplace, and a powder room just off the grand foyer. A massive eat-in kitchen features its own more casual dining nook on one end, with large windows overlooking Ghirardelli Square, Sausalito, Mount Tamalpais, Tiburon, Belvedere Island, Angel Island, and the Aquatic Park below.

One floor up is where the majority of the guest bedrooms are located, with three en suite bedrooms (including the master bedroom) taking up the entirety of the floor. The master suite features two dressing rooms, one of which has a unique motif of hand-stenciled wood murals covering all four of its walls, as well as a bright white bathroom featuring a deep soaking tub and separate steam shower, as well as stunning views of the bay. A mirrored wet bar and linen closet complete the second floor.

The third floor features two more large en suite bedrooms with vaulted ceilings and large closets, with carpeted floors instead of the wood floors that are rampant throughout the rest of the home. The bottom level is home to the last of the six bedrooms, along with a large family room, a gym, and a controlled-temperature wine cellar.

Out back, there is a grassy yard that steps down to a landscaped garden with stone benches. Cage has been known for his unique real estate acquisitions over the years: Around the same time that he purchased the San Francisco home, he was also snapping up a number of other properties worldwide as part of a multiyear spending spree: an island in the Bahamas, a manor in Rhode Island, and castles in both England and Germany.
