Nicolas Cage opens up about his Flash cameo as Superman

Despite his brief appearance in The Flash, actor Nicolas Cage was glad to finally wear the red Superman cape.
Cage had a surprise cameo in Ezra Miller's The Flash, along with many other notable actors, but his appearance saw him play a character that was years in the making.
The Flash introduced viewers to the DC multiverse on the big screen, which saw many DC characters return and introduced new ones - including Cage's appearance as Superman.
The Renfield star was tipped to play Superman in Tim Burton's version of the film in the late 1990s, but the project was canned.

Speaking to USA Today, he shared how great it was to play the Man of Steel finally.
On his performance in The Flash, he said: "Well, I was glad I didn't blink. For me, it was the feeling of being actualised. Even that look for that particular character, finally seeing it on screen, was satisfying.
"But as I said, it's quick. If you really wanted to know what I was going do with that character, look at my performance in City of Angels."
He continued: "I was supposed (to play) Clark Kent after that (in Superman Lives), and I was already developing this alien otherness playing this angel.

"That is a perfect example of the tonality you would've gotten for Kal-El and for Clark Kent: Clark would've been a little more amusing but Kal-El (had) the sensitivity and the goodness and the vulnerability and all those feelings that were kind of angelic and also terrifying."
Superman was not Cage's first time playing a superhero, he had starred in The Ghost Rider in 2007 and its sequel Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance in 2011.
He has also lent his voice to some animated crime fighters, such as Spider-Man Noir in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018) and Superman in Teen Titans GO! to the Movies (2018).
The Flash is still out in some cinemas.
