Nicolas Cage Seen Arguing with Erika Koike While Applying for Marriage License Before Annulment

Nicolas Cage and Erika Koike‘s relationship appeared to be rocky days before the actor filed for an annulment to their whirlwind marriage.

On Saturday, the pair were seen arguing at the Clark County courthouse in Nevada as they were applying for their marriage license, in video obtained by The Daily Mail. Cage is heard saying, “I’m not doing it” to Koike as she responds, “I never asked you to.” They received their marriage certificate the same day, court records show.

The 55-year-old actor submitted an application for annulment to their marriage on Wednesday, according to court records obtained by PEOPLE.

A rep for the actor did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

Cage and Koike, a makeup artist, have kept their relationship low-profile, although they were spotted vacationing together in Puerto Rico in April 2018.

They were photographed together again in May of that year while out to dinner in Los Angeles.

He opened up about the end of their relationship in a 2018 interview with The Guardian while promoting his thriller Mandy, saying, “It was a shocker for me — I definitely didn’t see it coming and those feelings had to go somewhere, so they went into the performance.”

As for whether they could stay friends, he said, “Oh yes, I want to. She was quite young when I married her and I don’t really have any ill will towards what happened. That’s all I’ll say.”

“And now it’s like, wow, I’m 54 and I’m single again, I didn’t see that coming!” he added. “It’s pretty grim.”

Cage also has a 28-year-old son, Weston Coppola Cage, with ex Christina Fulton.
