Nigel Farage Launches 'Brexit Party', Fields Annunziata Rees-Mogg as European Parliament Candidate

Nigel Farage, the former leader of the UK Independence Party and a prominent Eurosceptic MEP, launched his new Brexit Party on April 12.

During the launch event at a factory in Coventry, the party’s candidates for the forthcoming European elections were announced, including the sister of Jacob Rees-Mogg, journalist Annunziata Rees-Mogg. The party intends to field candidates in the event that the UK takes part in the May 23 election.

During a question and answer session, Farage distanced himself from UKIP, saying that they had “attracted a fairly loutish fringe” and that “they have decided to go down a route where there seems to be a complete obsession not just with Islam but, it would appear, with all of its adherents.” Credit: The Brexit Party/Nigel Farage via Storyful
