Nigella Lawson has got the internet laughing once again, in her new show Nigella's Amsterdam Christmas.

In her latest cooking special, which aired on BBC One last night, the celebrity chef celebrated her love of Amsterdam's food and culture, bringing this into viewers' homes (and kitchens) through a selection of festive-themed recipes.

While preparing Dutch speculaas biscuits, Nigella made a rather unexpected joke that left viewers in stitches.

She said: "So before I roll it out, I'm gonna give this slab a bit of a dusting with my magic wand, or perhaps it's more of a seasonal sceptre.

"Let’s unwrap this fat patty – my drag name."

One viewer said on X, formerly Twitter: "We're still howling over your drag name quip! Happy Christmas, Nigella. Don't ever change."

Another declared: "Well if @Nigella_Lawson wasn't already my Queen of Christmas! Loved her Amsterdam Christmas and Fat Patty is one hell of a drag name. I truly never feel more Christmassy than when watching Nigella!"

A third said: "Nigella saying her drag name would be 'Fat Pattie' is the campest thing I have ever heard. 10/10. No notes. An absolute ally."

Nigella's funny quip even led to one viewer suggesting: "Starting from today: my petition to get @Nigella_Lawson on Season 6 of Drag Race UK."

The presenter clearly had as much fun filming the special as viewers had watching it, as she shared an outtakes video on social media, captioned with a sweet message.

She wrote: "Just so you know what my crew actually have to put up with, an outtakes reel! Merry Christmas, all! And thank you for watching xxx."

In the show, which is filmed in both Amsterdam and London, Nigella makes a range of dishes including butternut biryani, Dutch mussels, as well as an advocaat and ginger cake.

There are also some festive drinks, including a cocktail which Nigella amusingly called 'The Amsterdamage'.

Nigella's Amsterdam Christmas is streaming now on BBC iPlayer.
