Nigerian Festival in Frederick

Sep. 26—The Association of Nigerians in Frederick will host its annual Nigerian Festival at Waverley Elementary school on Sept. 30 to celebrate Nigeria's Independence Day. Attendees from all cultural backgrounds are encouraged to participate in this family-friendly event.

This event will be an opportunity to learn about the different cultures present in Frederick's Nigerian community by showcasing cultural performances, a fashion show, music, dance, children's activities, vendors, and a delicacy of catered Nigerian dishes.

This is an opportunity for you to be transported to Nigeria without leaving the borders of the United States.

"Come with an open mind and be ready to immerse yourself in the cultural experience," said Yewande Oladeinde, president of the Association of Nigerians In Frederick.

The event will run from 4 to 8 p.m. Sept. 30, and tickets cost $45 for adults, $10 for children ages 7 to 17, and free for children under 7.
