Nigerian start-up rolls out eco-friendly e-scooters

STORY: E-scooters are being rolled out

at this Nigerian campus

The company behind them

is hoping the eco-friendly tech

will change the way Nigerians move

within gated communities like schools

CEO, TREKK SCOOTERS, ISAAC OYEDOKUN, SAYING:

‘’Trekk Scooter is our baby and we are really excited to be on this project at this time especially when alternatives of micro-mobility in Nigeria are not clean, and then that is when we see the opportunity in this to bring it clean and also affordable transportation.’’

It costs 2.5 cents per minute to ride, with 5 cents to unlock the scooter

Each scooter can go up to 12 miles per hour

and can be ridden up to six hours before needing a charge

STUDENT, NANCY ENUMAH SAYING:

‘’It is faster to get to class and also you can use it for recreational activities in the evening, when you are done with classes or when you are stressed out basically.’’
