The Night Agent has added new cast members for season two, including Pitch Perfect’s Brittany Snow.

Netflix’s political drama based on the novel by Matthew Quirk was a huge hit, attracting 168.7m hours of viewing in its first few days – making it the streamer’s third-best series launch ever at the time.

Just days after it premiered, the show was renewed for a second 10-episode season, and now Netflix has announced some new additions to the next instalment.

The series surrounds low-level FBI Agent Peter Sutherland (Gabriel Basso) who works in the basement of the White House and finds himself involved in a dangerous conspiracy that leads to the Oval Office.

According to Deadline, Snow will play Alice, Peter’s partner and mentor in his first assignment in Night Action, in a recurring role.

Also joining the cast as series regulars are Berto Colon (Power Book II: Ghost) as former Marine Solomon, Louis Herthum (Westworld) as international businessman Jacob Monroe, and Arienne Mandi (The L Word: Generation Q) as low-level aide Noor.

Teddy Sears (American Horror Story) will also have a recurring role in the second season as high-level intelligence officer Warren, who becomes the subject of a Night Action investigation.

Pitch Perfect actress Snow posted about the announcement on her Instagram, with the caption: "I already love this cast & crew. Fun agent things ahead."

These new stars join the returning team of Basso as Peter and Luciane Buchanan as Rose, as well as previously announced newbie Amanda Warren as seasoned operative Catherine.

Creator, showrunner and executive producer Shawn Ryan will return to oversee the second season of The Night Agent – which is currently in production and doesn’t yet have a release date.

The first season of The Night Agent is streaming now on Netflix worldwide.
