After U.S. Sen. Markwayne Mullin threatened to physically fight Teamsters Union leader Sean O'Brien Tuesday at a Senate hearing, comedians have stepped in with their hot takes.

During the hearing, the discussion escalated between O'Brien the Oklahoma senator, who was formerly an MMA fighter. It ended when Mullin asked O'Brien if he wanted to fight and stood from his chair, but he was stopped by Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vermont, who was chairing the hearing.

Jimmy Kimmel: Mullin fight like watching UFC-SPAN

Late night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel called Mullin a "meathead" and said it was like watching "UFC-SPAN."

“That isn’t the first time Bernie Sanders was forced to play the role of peacemaker," Kimmel said. "You know, when he was originally elected to the Senate, he tried to convince Aaron Burr and Alexander Hamilton to hug it out, and that didn’t work, either. That didn’t end well at all.”

Leslie Jones on The Daily Show: 'Calm down, Markwayne' belongs in an episode of COPS

Leslie Jones said she wants in on the Senate Fight Club during a segment on The Daily Show on Tuesday night. Jordan cheered at the chance to see the former MMA fighter take on other civil servants, and teased Mullin's uncommon name.

"Markwayne. All one word. His parents didn't even love him enough to pick one single name for him," she said.

"Calm down, Markwayne' isn't some (expletive) I want to hear on C-SPAN. It's what you hear when you watch an episode of COPS."

Stephen Colbert: An embarrassing day in Congress

Stephen Colbert called it "an embarrassing day down in Congress," and prefaced the clip with "I want to warn anyone with young children, what we're about to show you is extremely stupid."

"If there's gonna be a fight, I'd like to warn that Senator, you look pretty big," Colbert said. "But historically, people who take on the Teamsters end up with season tickets to Giants Stadium, underneath the end zone. Luckily before things came to blows, cooler heads prevailed — and for once the cooler head belonged to Bernie Sanders."
