New night spots to open in downtown Macon. Here’s what’s coming, what’s new this year
Two new night spots are coming to the downtown Macon area.
Brandon and Nadiya Harris expect to open Sunset Suite & Lounge at 1410 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. in the fall.
They plan to create a “chill vibe” when they open their lounge targeting ages 25 and up on the first floor of the building, Nadiya said.
They’ll have a full bar and offer specialty cocktails to begin with and hope to expand by offering food in the future, she said.
They hope to open around Thanksgiving.
Jonny Vice is expected to open Vice Bar in the former JBA site at 499 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
“I’m super excited about it,” Vice said. “I love downtown Macon. We want to cater to the local music scene.”
The bar and music venue will feature specialty cocktails, a full bar, live music and darts. Vice said he does not plan to serve food.
He’s waiting on his liquor license to be able to open.
The new spots will join a half dozen other bars and lounges that opened in downtown Macon this year.
Here’s a list of this year’s additions:
Black Cat Liquor & Libations, an upscale cocktail bar below Kinjo Kitchen + Cocktails at 497 Second St., Suite A.
Apt.77 lounge, which serves specialty cocktails at 401 Cherry St., Suite 101, in the former A Brooke Haven Lounge location.
Longleaf Distillery, a craft micro-distillery at 664 Second St.
The Daisy, a tequila and margarita bar at 518 Cherry St.
The Brickhouse Pub & Grub, a food, bar and entertainment venue, at 458 Second St.
Churchills on Cherry, an upscale cigar lounge at 557 Cherry St. on the second floor above Cherry Street Hookah.
Also, known for live music, cocktails, rotating craft beers and its whiskey selection, JBA moved into its new digs at 425 Cherry St. in March.
Additionally, three new restaurants that feature full-service bars and offer specialty cocktails opened this year: Sophia’s on Second at 428 Second St., 3rd & Cherry at 379 Third St. and The Cotton Ranch at 337 Cotton Ave.
In all, downtown Macon boasts 57 restaurants, 39 retailers and 32 bars and venues, according to NewTown Macon.
