Nightlife Returns in Former Coronavirus Epicentre of Wuhan, China

Wuhan residents returned to the streets to enjoy the city’s nightlife as normality returned to the former epicentre of China’s coronavirus outbreak.

Yang Xin filmed this video, which shows a large number of residents wearing masks shopping in Jianghan Road, a famous local shopping precinct, on June 14.

Several street vendors can be seen in the video. The so-called “stall economy” became a buzzword in China after Chinese premier Li Keqiang praised the stall businesses as forming a part of “China’s livelihood” on June 1.

Yang told Storyful that street vendors were not allowed to set up stalls in the area where he filmed before the COVID-19 pandemic. He started to see the vendors appear in the area around two weeks ago, he added. Credit: Yang Xin via Storyful
