Nike drops Antonio Brown after sexual assault allegations

Antonio Brown is no longer a Nike athlete.
Nike, which had a shoe deal with the New England Patriots wide receiver, has parted ways with the receiver, according to the Boston Globe.

A Nike spokesperson confirmed the news to the Globe, but did not provide additional details regarding the decision.
The 31-year-old Brown was accused, in a civil lawsuit, of sexual assault Sept. 10. Brown’s former trainer accused Brown of three incidents of rape and sexual assault.
Since that initial accusation, more stories about Brown’s behavior have emerged. A report from Sports Illustrated revealed another alleged instance of Brown engaging in sexual misconduct.
This allegation came from a woman Brown hired to paint his house. While the woman was working, Brown reportedly walked up to her naked, with only a small towel covering his genitals. Brown is also being sued by various people — including a doctor and trainer — for failing to pay for services.
Some of Brown’s apparel can still be found on Nike’s website, according to the Globe. Brown’s shoes, however, no longer appear on the company’s website.
The NFL has launched an investigation into the allegations against Brown. The league met with the trainer who accused Brown of sexual assault Monday. On Wednesday, the Pittsburgh district attorney announced its office would not pursue charges against Brown due to a statute of limitations issue.
Despite those allegations, Brown played during New England’s Week 2 win over the Miami Dolphins. Brown caught four passes for 56 yards and a touchdown in that contest.
