Nimishillen Twp. trustees approve pay raises and purchases for Fire Department

KEY ACTION: Approved fire department purchases.

DISCUSSION: Sarchione Chevrolet will provide a medium duty HD chassis for $61,078 and Pfund Superior Sales Co. of Lower Burell, Pennsylvania, will add the type I ambulance module for $188,176.

Also approved was the pay rate increases for all staffing positions within the Fire Department and CenCom Dispatching.

The per hour rates are: Part-time EMT $16; paramedic $19; full-time paramedic $21.50; shift captain EMT $23.66; part-time captain paramedic 25.83; dispatchers: part-time $16.50; probationary,18.50 part-time; $21.50 full time; supervisor $25.50. Increases were based upon surveys of surrounding departments to determine a competitive rate, according to Fire Chief Rich

Peterson. All increases will be effective with the May 21 pay period.

OTHER ACTION:

  • Approved hiring Ailani Kleinhans as part-time dispatcher effective May 13.

  • Approved a dispatching agreement with the Marlboro Fire Department at $1,677 per month base on the number of calls handled in 2021 at $35 each.

  • Approved road material contracts with Allied and Northstar for asphalt, and D.J.L. for crack and seal materials.

  • Adjourned to a 55-minute executive session on personnel matters, during which trustees approved a pay increase to $18 per hour for Zoning Inspector Jeff Shipman effective May 21.
