Nine area teams to compete in CIF-SS Duals Wrestling Championships

Seven area boys wrestling teams and two girls teams have qualified for the CIF-Southern Section Dual Meet Championships on Saturday. Pairings were announced Thursday afternoon.

The Division 3 boys tournament will be held at Victor Valley High in Victorville. In first-round matches, Coastal Canyon League champion Royal (11-1), ranked No. 7 in the final Division 3 poll, will meet Aliso Niguel; Camarillo (13-2), which finished second in the Coastal Canyon League and ranked No. 10, will face Sante Fe; Pacific View League champion Ventura (5-0) will take on Chaminade; and Buena (17-3), which finished second in the Pacific View League, will meet Victor Valley.

In Division 6 first-round matches, Citrus Coast League champion Nordhoff (3-0) will face Newbury Park (5-3), ranked No. 5 in the final Division 6 poll, and Marmonte League champion Thousand Oaks (12-2), the third seed and third-ranked team, will take on Calvary Chapel-Downey at Western High in Anaheim.

In the 29-team Division 1 girls tournament, Pacifica (7-1) will face Paloma Valley at Northview High in Covina and Hueneme (3-3) will meet San Dimas at Bonita High in La Verne in the first round.

The first round, quarterfinals and semifinals will all be held Saturday. The finals will be Wednesday at the site of the school ranked highest in the final poll.
