Here are the nine lawyers who will interview for the vacant District Court judge seat

PROVIDENCE – The Judicial Nominating Commission on Monday selected nine lawyers to interview for the District Court seat vacated by Judge Christine Jabour Nov. 1.

The list includes Rebecca L. Aitchison, a federal public defender who previously worked in the Rhode Island Public Defenders' office; Joseph R. Ballirano, a general practitioner with three decades of experience; Special Assistant Attorney General Molly Kapstein Cote; Kas R. DeCarvalho, a partner with Pannone Lopes Devereaux & O'Gara; and Kate Breslin Harden, legal counsel at the Department of Behavioral Healthcare, Developmental Disabilities and Hospitals.

Also chosen by the panel that helps vets the state’s judge were Assistant Attorney General Amy Dodge Murray, who oversees the Providence County grand jury; Nicholas Parrillo, a former state public defender who now practices with Marin and Barrett, Inc.; Frank D. Saccoccio, a partner at the Johnston firm Comerford & Saccoccio; andDebra A.‎ Saunders, Clerk of Rhode Island Supreme Court.

Each of the candidates will be interviewed by the commission after a public hearing is held Dec. 14. The lifetime tenure position has a $160,317 annual base salary.
