Nine must-see specialty shops in downtown Howell

HOWELL — Livingston County is filled with festivals, fairs and outdoor fun each summer, but while you're in town, take a look at these must-see specialty shops in historic downtown Howell.

Retro-a-go-go

Retro-a-go-go has been in business since 2004, but Kirsten Pagacz and her husband Doug were collecting retro art 25 years before that. The store sells giant 3D wall decorations, comics, wallets and coin purses, desktop tiny terrors, graphic prints, ornaments, drinking flasks, plush blankets, soap, wearable masks, embroidered patches, puzzles, tiki mugs, stickers and buttons and more.

The shop at 214 S. Michigan Ave. in Howell is open 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Mondays-Fridays. Items can be purchased in store or at retroagogo.com

Like Mother Like Daughter Vintage Treasures

Jada Wester and daughter Jordan Wester sell vintage cottage-style pieces with a flair of industrial salvage and re-purpose them. The shop at 122 N. State St. in Howell is open 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Wednesdays-Saturdays and 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Sundays.

Howell Western Wear

Howell Western Wear offers accessories like buckles and leathergoods, plus boots, hats, women's and men's clothing, work boots and work wear.

The shop at 121 N. Michigan Ave. in Howell is open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Mondays-Saturdays and 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Thursdays. Items can be purchased in store or at howellwesternwear.com.

Finding Roots

Finding Roots has a mission to reconnect people with nature and their authentic roots through handmade gifts, wellness products and community interaction. The shop offers jewelry, clothing and garden art, plus herbs, candles, medicinal salves and laundry soap.

The store at 111 N. Michigan Ave. is open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Wednesdays-Saturdays and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Sundays. Items can be purchased in store or at findingroots.net.

Dragonfly Emporium

Kelly Lyczkowski opened Dragonfly Emporium in September 2018, a lifelong dream of hers. Lyczkowski describes the shop as a whimsical emporium with a variety of gifts.

The shop at 109 W. Grand River Ave. and is open 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Wednesdays-Saturdays and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Sundays. Items can be purchased in store or online at shopdragonflyemp.com.

Carriage House Designs

Kim Wilson offers patrons an assortment of gifts at Carriage House, including tea sets, toys, kitchen towels, jewelry, wall prints and more.

The shop at 119 N. Michigan Ave. in Howell is open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays and Fridays-Saturdays, 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Thursdays and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Sundays.

Kokopelli’s Korner

Cathy Boaz of Kokopelli's Korner opened her shop in January 2015. The store offers spiritual gifts including jewelry, crystals, candles, teas, salt lamps and angels. Items can be found in store or at kokopelliskorner.com.

The shop at 120 W. Grand River is open 12-4 p.m. Mondays, 12-5 p.m. Tuesdays and 12-7 p.m. Wednesdays-Saturdays.

Walnut Street Marketplace

Sally Roberts opened Walnut Street Marketplace in June 2016. The shop is inside a large warehouse near the historic train depot and is full of painted furniture, unique decorations, funky junk and fabulous finds. Items can be found in store or online at walnutstreetmarketplace.com.

The shop at 205 N. Walnut St. is open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Fridays-Saturdays and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Sundays.

The Simply Cherry Collection

Morgan Cherry opened The Simply Cherry Collection last year after some of her custom shirt designs went viral. Now, she sells them in a brick-and-mortar shop.

The store at 204 W. Grand River Ave. Suite 230 is open 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Mondays and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesdays-Saturdays.
