Which NJ commute is the worst? New study honors this city with dubious award

New Jersey can definitely be considered one of the top "driving" states. With that comes an intense knowledge (hatred?) of commuting in the Garden State.

Many in New Jersey surely think they have the worst commute, but a new study tried to answer the question of which town in the state has it the worst.

FinanceBuzz went through all 50 states to pick the city with the longest commute. For New Jersey, that dubious honor went to Jersey City with an average 34-minute commute.

The study analyzed census data for the average commute times of more than 600 cities in all 50 states including Washington, D.C. New Jersey is one of 13 states with its longest commute clocking in over 30 minutes.

The shortest commute was in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, at 16.7 minutes. The longest commute was about 43.2 minutes in Poinciana, Florida, a town south of Orlando, according to FinanceBuzz.

Jersey City is the second-largest city in New Jersey so plenty of people know all about commuting there. The bridges going into the city can get backed up, as do the streets once you're there. Parking is no picnic either.

If you're not going for work there are plenty of great reasons to make the drive into Jersey City, though. The dining scene, Liberty Science Center and Newport Centre are just a few of the options that make it worth the drive.
