NJ Devils' schedule revised after COVID postponements, including three home games

As the Devils returned to the ice Wednesday, the National Hockey League has revised tne schedule to make up for all postponed games.

The Devils had eight games that needed to be moved because of postponements as the team had played just once in the last week and a half.

The moves by the NHL were to ensure that all of the league's 32 teams would have a full 82-game schedule completed by the initial end of the regular season on April 29.

Devils home games rescheduled

Among the eight moved games, three are home games at Prudential Center. The Devils will host the Pittsburgh Penguins on Feb. 13, a game moved up from Feb. 24. That is because the Devils will play in Pittsburgh on Feb. 24, a game initially scheduled for Dec. 21 but postponed when the league shut down the Devils for health and safety reasons.

The Devils celebrate a goal by New Jersey Devils defenseman Damon Severson (28) in the first period against the Ottawa Senators at the Prudential Center on Monday, Dec. 6, 2021, in Newark.

The Devils were supposed to host the Montreal Canadiens on Dec. 23, but were unable to as Canadian teams were not permitted to travel at the time. That game has been rescheduled for April 7.

And the Devils will now host the Tampa Bay Lightning on Feb. 15, a game initially scheduled for Jan. 10.

Devils road games rescheduled

The other three rescheduled games for the Devils are all road contests. The game against the Canadiens originally scheduled for Jan. 15 will now be played in Montreal on Feb. 8.

The Dec. 27 game at St. Louis against the Blues will now be Feb. 10.

The game at Toronto against the Maple Leafs on Jan. 17 will now be Jan. 31. That creates a home-and-home series between the two teams on consecutive days with both squads already scheduled to play at Prudential Center on Feb. 1

Any tickets and prepaid event parking for those initially scheduled games will be valid for the rescheduled game date. Devils Black and Red Members, Premium Partners, Partial Plan Holders and Group Leaders are asked to contact their Devils Account Manager with any questions.
