Rail commuters faced delays heading in and out of New York City Monday morning due to an unspecified track condition, NJ Transit said, before service got back on schedule in the afternoon.

An issue on an Amtrak track caused delays up to 60 minutes in and out of Penn Station New York around rush hour, according to an NJ Transit alert. The delays were due to a track condition in the North Tube of the North River Tunnels, according to Amtrak. Service was back on schedule by about 12:45 p.m.

Amtrak personnel worked on the condition.

Because of the delays, NJ Transit train tickets and passes were cross honored for bus service, private carriers and PATH in Newark, Hoboken and 33rd Street in Manhattan.
