NJ weather: Up to 4 inches of snow expected overnight in Monmouth, Ocean counties

A quick-moving clipper system is expected to dump another up to 4 inches of snow overnight, according to the National Weather Service.

A winter weather advisory is in effect from 10 p.m. Friday to 10 a.m. Saturday, and comes with the estimate of between three to four inches in Monmouth and Ocean counties, said Mike Lee, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service at Mt. Holly.

The snow will be brought on by a clipper system, Lee said.

"It swings by and clips us," he said. "Just a quick burst of snow."

Steven DiMartino, meteorologist at NY NJ PA Weather, said light snow will begin around 10 p.m. and become steady after midnight.

He predicts snowfall will be in the two- to four-inch range, but some locations could see a burst that pushes them up to five.

This snow will be very light and fluffy, DiMartino said.

"Unlike the last [storm] where it was a wet, cement-like snow...This is going to be the type of snow you can literally blow away with a leaf blower," he said.

By noon Sunday, conditions will clear out and we'll start to see some sunshine, according to DiMartino.
