NJ weather: A cold start to the weekend, but what about that snowstorm?

A bitterly cold day with high temperatures in the 20s and enough of a breeze to result in low wind chill values sums up the forecast for Friday, according to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly.

But the weekend snowstorm that was feared earlier in the week is no longer a threat to New Jersey, with any bad weather expected to just brush parts of the southeastern Shore (Cape May County may get an inch or less) as it stays out to sea this weekend, according to the weather service. The chance of snowfall on Friday night is 30% in Ocean County and 20% in Monmouth, Burlington and Camden counties, with little or no accumulation expected.

No precipitation is in the forecast for North Jersey this weekend.

Saturday and Sunday will be dry and cold due to high pressure over the state. The warmest temperatures will be mostly in the 20s on Saturday and in the 30s on Sunday, according to the forecast.

Garden State Parkway fire: It was arson, according to NJ State Police

Expect mostly or partly sunny skies on both days.
