NJ Weather: Sunny skies on Valentine's week at the Shore, though chance of snow

Mostly sunny skies are ahead of the Shore this week with some rain and snow on Monday and Tuesday, according to the latest forecast by the National Weather Service, Mount Holly.

A low pressure system approaching the area is bringing chances of rain for the shore area Monday through Tuesday morning.

Mixed rain and snow precipitation is forecast for early Tuesday morning. While the northwest part of the state could have some accumulation, very little snow, if any, is expected for the Shore area, the weather service said.

Skies should clear out by Wednesday for a sunny Valentine's Day with normal temperatures in the 40s during the day. The night on Valentine's will be chilly with temperatures around 26 at the Shore.

Asbury Park and Monmouth county weather forecast

Monday- Mostly cloudy with a chance of rain after 1 p.m. The high should be near 46. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Monday night- Breezy and rainy with a low around 35. Mixed rain and snow after 4 a.m. Chance of precipitation is 80%.

Tuesday- Rain and snow, mainly before 7 a.m. Breezy with a high near 40. Chance of precipitation is 80%.

Tuesday night- Partly cloudy, with a low around 27.

Wednesday- Mostly sunny, with a high near 41.

Wednesday night- Partly cloudy, with a low around 27.

Thursday- Mostly sunny, with a high near 41.

Thursday night- Breezy and partly cloudy, with a low around 27.

Friday- Breezy and mostly sunny, with a high near 39.

Toms River and Ocean County weather forecast

Monday- Mostly cloudy with a chance of rain after 1 p.m. High should be near 48. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Monday night- Breezy and rainy with a low around 34. Mixed rain and snow after 4 a.m. Chance of precipitation is 80%.

Tuesday- Rain and snow, mainly before 7 a.m. Breezy with a high near 41. Chance of precipitation is 80%.

Tuesday night- Partly cloudy, with a low around 25.

Wednesday- Mostly sunny, with a high near 43.

Wednesday night- Partly cloudy, with a low around 25.

Thursday- Mostly sunny, with a high near 42.

Thursday night- Breezy and partly cloudy, with a low around 25.

Friday- Breezy and mostly sunny, with a high near 41.
