NM GOP strategist, attorney Pat Rogers dies

Mar. 20—Pat Rogers, a well-known New Mexico attorney and longtime Republican strategist, has died.

The New Mexico Republican Party announced Rogers' death on Sunday.

"RPNM is saddened to learn that former New Mexico Republican National Committeeman and RPNM General Counsel Pat Rogers has passed away," Steve Pearce, chairman of the state Republican party, said in a statement.

"A talented attorney and dedicated Republican, Pat helped advance the conservative cause in New Mexico for many years. Our prayers are with Pat's friends and family during this trying time. He will be greatly missed," he said.

GOP officials could not be reached Sunday for details about the circumstances of his death.

In addition to his work for the Republican party, Rogers was also a former board member of the New Mexico Foundation for Open Government and a former partner at Modrall Sperling Law Firm.

Rogers' website lists some of his notable clients, which included: David Letterman, the New Mexico George Bush Presidential Campaigns, presidential candidate Ralph Nader, the New Mexico Republican Party, Susana Martinez for Governor Committee, Verizon, San Juan Coal Company and The Gallup Independent newspaper.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Pat," the state House Republican Caucus said in a news release. "We are very thankful for the years of dedication and meaningful stewardship that Pat Rogers provided to our members and our state Republican party."
