LAS CRUCES, N.M. – As the Jerry Kill era gets underway for NM State Football, the Aggies will open the season in front of a national audience. For the first time since 2018, Aggie Memorial Stadium will play host to a nationally televised contest when the Aggies take on Nevada at 8 p.m. MT, Aug. 27, on ESPN2.

The opening act to the highly anticipated 2022 season will mark just the fourth time in NM State football program history that ESPN has made the trip to Las Cruces (2018, ESPN2; 2009, ESPNU; 2007, ESPN2).

"I don't think people truly understand that environment, stated Kill. "When you say, 'Hey, we're going to be on ESPN', that's a big deal to recruits and a big deal to our university… It's a great way to show our school off. It's a great way to highlight what we're doing here. It's a great way to show Las Cruces off." The week zero contest will be the first of three NM State games in four weeks to air on national television (September 1 at Minnesota, Big Ten Network; September 17 at Wisconsin, Big Ten Network).

ESPN's last visit to Las Cruces came when the Aggies hosted Wyoming to open the 2018 season. Fresh off of a NOVA Home Loans Arizona Bowl victory, NM State opened the season with one of the largest crowds in Aggie Memorial Stadium history. Moccia and company look to out-draw the 20,322 who saw the Aggies take on the Cowboys. To date, over 17,000 tickets have been sold for the season opener.

For fans who are unable to catch the game on television, Jack Nixon and Cory Lucas will have the call over the radio waves. The game can be found on the flagship station, 99.5 FM KXPZ or with the Varsity Network App. Fans outside of Las Cruces can find the game on any of the following affiliate stations:

Alamagordo -- 103.7 FM KNMZ Artesia -- 93.7 FM KSVPCarlsbad -- 1240 AM KAMQEl Paso -- 1380 AM KHEYGallup -- 1230 AM KYVA | 98.3 FM KYVA

Tickets to the Nevada game and the entire 2022 home schedule are available now through the Pan American ticket office. Season tickets start at just $70 ($55 for NM State faculty and staff), while single-game tickets can be purchased for as low as $12. As always, NM State students are admitted to all home sporting events with their student ID.
