LAS CRUCES – New Mexico State University is celebrating homecoming Oct. 20-22 with a parade, bonfire, alumni recognitions and, of course, the Aggie football game against San Jose State University.

Check out all the events going on ahead of the Saturday night game.

Thursday, Oct. 20

  • Aggie Bonfire: Homecoming weekend kicks off with the annual bonfire Thursday night in parking lot 30, northeast of the Aggie Memorial Stadium, 1810 E. University Ave. Organizers will strike the match after sunset, which is around 6:30 p.m.

Friday, Oct. 21

  • Distinguished Alumni Awards Celebration Dinner – Eight NMSU alumni will be honored at 6 p.m. Friday at the Farm & Ranch Heritage Museum, 4100 Dripping Springs Rd. Honorees include Dr. Charles L. Johnson '61; Dr. Bobby Brooke Herrera '12; Dr. Michael Galyean '73; Don T. Foster '81; Dr. Kellie Ann Jurado '11; Anthony Boor '89; Wencil McClenahan '91; and David Gallegos '97. Tickets for the dinner are $55 and can be purchased online at https://nmsufoundation.org/givenow/homecoming-2022.html.

Saturday, Oct. 22

  • Homecoming Parade – The annual homecoming parade starts at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Pan American Center, 1810 E. University Ave. Floats will travel west down University Avenue. This year’s theme is “Aggies Out of This World!” Viewers are welcome to set up lawn chairs along the parade route for viewing.

  • Golden Aggies Celebration Luncheon – NMSU Class of 1972 is invited to gather from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Farm & Ranch Heritage Museum to celebrate their 50th anniversary. These Aggies will have the chance to catch up with old friends and reminisce over the good ol’ campus days. Tickets for this celebration are $30 and are available online.

  • Homecoming Tailgate with Alumni & Friends – Alumni & Friends is hosting their annual tailgate north of Aggie Memorial Stadium from 2-4 p.m. Saturday. Alumni are welcome to bring their families and enjoy Rudy’s barbeque and a drink from Icebox Brewing. A bounce house will be on site for kids. Attendees can expect guest appearances by Coach Jerry Kill, NMSU cheerleaders and the Pride of New Mexico Marching Band. Tailgating tickets for adults are $18.88 while children’s tickets for 12 and under are $8.88.

  • Aggie Football vs. San Jose State University – NM State will take to the field later Saturday afternoon against San Jose State. Kickoff is at 4 p.m.
