Gaining weight can be somewhat of a mystery, often a very frustrating one for those who can't seem to shed those extra pounds no matter how much they exercise or how many diets they try. And if you're one of the many who gained weight over the last year, you may have wondered what the biggest culprit was in adding those extra pounds. Now, a new survey conducted by YouGov set out to answer that question.

The surveyors asked people in 17 places around the world, "Why do you think you're gaining weight?" Their sample sizes varied between 505 and 2,251 in each market. Read on to discover if you align with the majority of people about the most common cause of weight gain right now.
