No. 1 Tennessee baseball vs. No. 5 Vanderbilt: Live score updates

Tennessee baseball is chasing its first sweep against Vanderbilt since 2009 on Saturday.

The No. 1 Vols (26-1, 8-0 SEC) and the No. 5 Commodores (20-6, 4-4) play Sunday (2 p.m. ET, SEC Network+) in Nashville.

Tennessee won the series opener 6-2 on Friday. The Vols won 5-2 on Saturday.

Chase Dollander struck out six and allowed three hits in eight-plus innings to earn the win Saturday. Dollander allowed a pair of solo homers in the seventh inning. He faced the minimum through six innings. The lone hit he allowed in the first six innings was erased on a caught stealing.

Vols outfielder Jordan Beck was called out after a first inning home run Friday due to using an illegal bat. The umpire crew reviewed Beck's bat following the home run and deemed it had not been approved for use in the contest.

"In pre-series bat testing, a sticker with the logo of the opposing team is placed on legal bats," SEC associate commissioner for communications Herb Vincent said in a statement to Knox News. "There was a sticker on the bat in question, but it was not an appropriate sticker on the bat. It was a sticker from a midweek game. Therefore, the bat was deemed illegal.”

Luc Lipcius hit a two-run homer in the second inning and Tennessee never trailed in the series-opening win.

“We have some real firepower this year,” Beck said. “I would say the other ball that I hit in the gap too was hit pretty well and that was with a different bat, too. The bats don’t matter.

“You could give us wood bats and it really doesn’t matter to us. We've got an explosive team and we’re going to keep doing it this year.”
