The new-look Ole Miss football team will get its first national exposure on Saturday.
The No. 24 Rebels (0-0) will try to score a season-opening win against Troy (0-0) from Vaught-Hemingway Stadium on Saturday (3 p.m., SEC Network). After finishing 10-3 last season with a loss in the Sugar Bowl, Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin has a revamped roster headlined by the nation's No. 2 ranked transfer portal signing class. The Rebels have transfer portal adds competing for starting spots at quarterback, running back, receiver, tight end, offensive tackle, defensive tackle, edge rusher, linebacker, safety and kicker.
Ole Miss has not announced who will start at quarterback Saturday. Sophomore Luke Altmyer, who was the Rebels' backup in 2021, and USC transfer Jaxson Dart alternated first- and second-string reps in the spring and preseason but Kiffin has maintained the entire time that both passers have performed equally and no decision has been made.

REPORT CARDOle Miss football grades vs. Troy: Making sense of an uninspiring offense under Lane Kiffin
4th quarter
FINAL: Ole Miss 28, Troy 10. The QB battle is still open. Neither QB played particularly well, though Dart did lead four touchdown drives in the Rebels' first six offensive drives.
7:17 left: Troy scores a touchdown on 4th and goal to cut the Ole Miss lead to 28-10. It came after Luke Altmyer fumbled the snap on his first play of the day.
3rd quarter
1:59 left: A long Troy drive ends with a fourth down stop in Ole Miss territory. Ole Miss fans should be encouraged by the defense.
6:26 left: Zach Evans fumbles, and Troy recovers. Two plays later, Troy QB Gunnar Watson is picked off. On the next play, Javson Dart throws an interception. Not a quality sequence.
10:42 left: Malik Heath catches a touchdown pass over the middle, his first TD catch as a Rebel. Jaxson Dart's first touchdown pass at Ole Miss, too. Good drive to open the second half, and it included a wonderful 21-yard reception by a leaping Michael Trigg. Ole Miss 28, Troy 3.

Zach Evans has 97 total yards through a quarter and change. As Dart continues to get comfortable, I'd imagine the Rebels lean on Evans and the run game.
1st quarter
2:25 left: Ulysses Bentley IV scores from two yards out. It wasn't that simple; he hopped off a pile, avoided a tackle and sprinted into the end zone off left end. Ole Miss 7, Troy 0.

8:02 left: Slow start for Jaxson Dart in his first Ole Miss drive. Going to take him a few series to get comfortable. His third-down scramble is well short of the first down marker. Ole Miss to punt.
