No. 3 Oregon Ducks open as 28-point favorites over Arizona Wildcats

With the non-conference schedule now behind us, and Pac-12 play starting for the Ducks on Saturday, you’d expect the competition to take a major step up, especially after Oregon played the Stony Brook Seawolves on Saturday, beating the FCS team 48-7.

The talent level may not take a drastic step up this week, however, with the Arizona Wildcats coming to Eugene on Saturday night. Arizona has lost 15-straight games, and they dropped one to Northern Arizona last week, another FCS school. Widely seen as the worst team in the Pac-12, the Wildcats aren’t likely to pose much of a threat to Oregon this week.

The betting lines reflect that idea as well. According to Tipico Sportsbook, the Ducks are opening as a 28.5-point favorite over Arizona, with an over/under of 58.5 for the game. If you do the math, that means the oddsmakers are predicting a final score somewhere along the lines of 44-14, Ducks.

As the week goes on, we are likely to see the line move quite a bit. One big piece of news to come out is concerning Oregon’s health going into Saturday, with both QB Anthony Brown and DE Kayvon Thibodeaux questionable to play. When talking to the media on Monday, head coach Mario Cristobal said that Brown “looks good’ and he expects him to be able to play, while Thibodeaux is still considered day-to-day.
