No. 6 Hope women roll into first-place showdown with Calvin after win

NOTRE DAME, Ind. - The No. 6 Hope College women's basketball team remained in first place with a 109-62 win over Saint Mary's on Saturday.

The Flying Dutch jumped out to a 32-23 lead after the first quarter, but put the game away in the second quarter, outscoring the Belles 39-9, leading 70-32 at halftime.

Hope used its size advantage in the paint to help the team shoot 56% from the field, including nine 3-pointers.

The Flying Dutch improved to 19-2 and 10-2 in the MIAA, remaining in a tie for first place with Trine and Calvin.

Hope hosts Calvin in a first-place showdown on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at DeVos Fieldhouse.

Raven Jemison gave Hope a huge boost off the bench, making all seven of her shots for 14 points.

Starting guard Ella McKinney also scored 14. Savannah Feenstra had 11 points, Meg Morehouse scored 10, Courtney Lee had 10 and Claire Baguley had nine.

Lee grabbed eight rebounds, while Sydney Vis and Feenstra each added five. Vis, Baguley and Karsen Karlblom each dished out three assists. Lee, Lina Rea and Feenstre each snagged three steals.

Julia Schutz led the Belles (7-15, 4-9 MIAA) with 16 points.
