MILLBURY — No arrests have been made in Saturday night’s non-fatal shooting outside at the Blackstone Valley 14 Cinema deLux at the Shoppes at Blackstone Valley.
At approximately 8:55 p.m., several shots were fired outside of the upper entrance to the cinema, according to police.
The upper entrance, which has a long escalator that leads to the main lobby, is located between Qdoba Mexican Grill and Orange Salon.
Also, in close vicinity to the shooting is a Creative Nails & Salon and a Pizzeria Uno to the right and a Bank of America ATM, and Cold Stone Creamery to the left.
None of the outdoor mall’s anchor stores are near the upper entrance of the theater.
National Amusements, who own the Blackstone Valley 14 Cinema deLux, released a statement about the shooting.
“The safety of our guests is of the utmost importance to all of us at Showcase Cinemas, and although the incident occurred outside of our cinema, we are dedicated to working with both local police enforcement, our security and mall officials to ensure a safe quest experience for all visitors to the Blackstone Valley 14 Cinema de Lux at the Shoppes at Blackstone Valley,” the Norwood-based theater company said in a statement.
The victim, a male who has not been identified, sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the shoulder.
Police have not given out any information about the suspected shooter or possible motive.
“The Worcester District Attorney's office is working with the Millbury Police Department, who are leading the investigation into the shooting. The investigation is ongoing at this time,” police said.
