No break in sight from cold weather as snow, freezing temps in forecast starting Thursday

No relief from extreme cold is on the immediate horizon as snow and more chilly temperatures are in the forecast for Louisville starting Thursday.

Meteorologist CJ Padgett of the National Weather Service in Louisville said people can expect snow showers to move in during the afternoon and evening hours on Thursday. He said this will bring another arctic front to Louisville and another round of cold air will impact the area starting Friday and last through the weekend.

"By Saturday and Sunday, we should have temperatures in the single digits again in the morning and minimum wind chills well below zero, especially for Saturday morning," Padgett said.

Padgett said the cold temperatures will continue on Tuesday and Wednesday, including wind chills below zero in the morning. The bitter cold forced Jefferson County Public Schools, along with several other districts in the commonwealth, to close out of an abundance of caution.

JCPS has not yet announced if classes will continue to be canceled Wednesday.
