No challengers for 15th House

Jul. 15—HARTFORD — State Rep. Bobby Gibson, D-Bloomfield, is running unopposed for his House seat in the General Assembly and is expected to be re-elected to his third term as a state lawmaker.

Gibson's district, the 15th House, is among several in the state that had its lines redrawn following the most recent census, and it will no longer include part of Windsor as it did in the past.

After redrawing the lines, the district will include Bloomfield and West Hartford.

If re-elected, Gibson said he expects to be named the chairman of the legislature's Black and Puerto Rican Caucus.

He said he would focus on statewide issues, but mainly concentrate on equity in economic development, voting, housing, education, transportation, police accountability, and a diverse pool of judges.

"I'm taking a statewide approach," Gibson said.

While Windsor will no longer be part of his district, Gibson said he would continue to work closely with the two state House members representing the community.

"We did some great work in Windsor, so I can't just let that go," he said
