No changes following recount

Dec. 5—The automatic recount of the Grady mayor's race and City Council positions resulted in no changes, Curry County Clerk Annie Hogland said.

The county's Recount Election Board convened Monday to review the Nov. 7 election results. The Grady races were each decided by fewer than five votes, which requires an automatic recount, according to state statute.

None of the numbers changed, Hogland said.

In the Grady mayor's race, James Carroll Schell defeated four other candidates. He received 13 votes, compared to 10 for Kodie D. Weese, seven for Pattye Ann Austin, five for write-in candidate Sean Constable and three for Vicki K. Windham.

In the at-large City Council races, which had two positions open, Jena K Rush (with 27 votes) and Bobby Gene Windham (14) were the winners on Election Day, followed by James M. Austin (13), and Ruth Qualls Schell (10).

Hogland said vote totals remain unofficial until the state canvassing board meets Tuesday to certify results of the recount. But she does not anticipate any changes from the Election Day vote totals.
