‘No clue what’s going on;’ Parents say Huber Heights bus driver refused to let children off of bus
Parents in Huber Heights were left confused and angry after they say a school bus driver refused to let children off of a bus Thursday afternoon.
Huber Heights police responded to the 5200 block of Brentwood Court around 3:30 p.m. on a suspicious circumstance call, according to dispatch records.
When officers arrived on scene, the bus driver told police she was following the rule that if kids act up, she is supposed to stop the bus and address the issue, dispatch records said.
One parent, Brittney Travers, told News Center 7 that her son sent her a message saying the bus stopped. The message said it wasn’t at a bus stop, the driver just pulled off to the side of the road and he was scared.

“We look up his iPhone location and we find it,” she said. “So my mother and I jump into the car and and locate the bus.”
Travers said she had no clue what was going on.
“At that time I don’t know if there’s an emergency on the bus, if there’s a kid hurt, if there’s someone on the bus that could harm them, I have no idea,” she said.
Some children were screaming “let me out of here,” according to Travers.
“Nobody knows what’s going on at this point,” she said. “So the police were called because we have no clue what’s going on still.”
Another parent, who wished to remain anonymous, told News Center 7 that her daughter texted her to let her know the bus driver was threatening to drop them back off at the school and have their parents pick them up.

“She pulled the bus over to you know, yell at them and tell them that they need to be quiet or she was threatening to take them back to school,” the parent said.
The parent told News Center 7 she saw the bus stopped near the bus stop, so she waited for all of the kids to get off.
She said her daughter was let off, but there were still others on the bus and the driver wouldn’t continue the route.
“I asked her, you know, ‘Is there a problem?’ And then that’s what started the whole thing,” she said.
A spokesperson for the Huber Heights School District confirmed with News Center 7 Friday afternoon that it is aware of the incident.
“Our transportation supervisor is reviewing the details of this situation to ensure all processes were followed,” the spokesperson said.
The spokesperson also confirmed the bus driver is not facing disciplinary action.
