No-Contact Bathroom Door Device Invented by UK Designer to Mitigate Coronavirus Spread

A device that enables a door to be opened without touching the doorknob was presented by a designer in Nottingham, England, as a way to mitigate the spread of the coronavirus.

Philip Watts Design said its “shoe pull” device would help minimize the transfer of the coronavirus and other germs on handles.

“Shoe Pull lets you easily open any door using only your foot – leaving your hands clean and free for other things!” the company’s website said.

The device retails for £36 (USD$44), and for the next 12 months 20 percent of all profits from its sales will be donated to NHS charities.

“Let’s get these on all toilet doors, so we can go back to work (and the pub hopefully) safer!” the company said on Twitter. “We will keep calm and carry on designing.” Credit: Philip Watts Design via Storyful
