No new COVID-19 deaths in NEPA

Jul. 22—The seven counties in Northeast Pennsylvania recorded 33 new COVID-19 cases and no new deaths Wednesday, according to state Department of Health data.

The new cases were among 525 statewide. Lackawanna County had six; Luzerne County, 14; Monroe County, nine; Pike County, one; and Wyoming County, three. Susquehanna and Wayne counties had none. Overall, the local region has had 78,771 cases; the state, 1,217,857.

The state recorded eight new deaths. In all, the virus has contributed to the deaths of 27,813 Pennsylvanians, including 1,890 in Northeast Pennsylvania.
