No deaths, 583 new COVID cases reported in St. Cloud area this week

No deaths from COVID-19 were reported in the St. Cloud tri-county area this week, according to the Minnesota Department of Health, and new cases numbered 583.

Across the state, 28 deaths and 13,846 new cases of COVID-19 were reported Monday through Friday.

Stearns County reported 307 of those new cases of COVID-19; Sherburne County reported 179 new cases; Benton County reported 97.

Stearns County has reported 52,003 cases and 368 deaths from COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic. Sherburne has reported 27,806 cases and 181 deaths and Benton County has reported 14,396 cases and 174 deaths, according to the department of health.

Of Minnesotans aged 5 and older, 75.1% have received at least one vaccine dose, according to the health department's vaccine data website. In Stearns County, 61.1% of people 5 years old and older have received at least one vaccine dose; in Sherburne County, 58.6% of that same population; and in Benton County, 57.6%.

Since the pandemic began, there have been more than 526 million cases of COVID-19 and more than 6.2 million deaths across the world, according to Johns Hopkins Coronavirus Resource Center. The U.S. has reported more than 83 million cases and more than 1 million deaths.
