No improvement in Delhi air quality, say residents

STORY: Some commuters wore masks to lessen the impact of the polluted air they were breathing.

"I am finding it challenging to carry out my daily routines because of pollution. I face difficulty in breathing and I cannot go anywhere without a mask. I have issues with my throat. When I step out, my nose and throat seem choked. There is no improvement," said a local, Vibhar Sharma.

A thick layer of smog envelops the city in winter as cold, heavy air traps construction dust, vehicle emissions and smoke from crop stubble burning in neighbouring states, causing a surge in respiratory illnesses among its 20 million people.
