No joke, Chick-fil-A restaurant to open in Merced. Here’s what we know

Chick-fil-A is coming soon to Merced.

The City of Merced confirmed Thursday that the popular chicken fast food chain will indeed be opening a Merced location.

And based on social media interaction, Chick-fil-a coming to town is making many Merced residents’ wishes come true.

Even if details aren’t immediately known of when the Chick-fil-A in Merced will open.

Because of many in the Merced area, Chick-fil-A has long been one of the most desired restaurants that they’ve been wanting to be built.

“It’s right up there,” Merced mayor Mattew Serratto said. “If it’s not No. 1, it’s 1A behind Trader Joe’s. From what I hear, people want Chick-fil-A and Trader Joe’s in Merced. That’s what I hear the most.”

Serratto said the Chick-fil-A will be located in the area of 15th Street and Martin Luther King Way near Highway 99.

The new restaurant will be surrounded by other popular fast food options like In-and-Out Burger, Wendy’s, Taco Bell and Popeyes.

Serratto says he’s unsure of a timeline for the restaurant.

The City of Merced’s Facebook post of Chick-fil-A coming to Merced generated more than 800 comments and 800 likes.

“People have a passion for that company and their food,” Serratto said.

Chick-fil-A is popular for their chicken sandwiches, and also offers nuggets, tenders, salads and waffle fries.

Since word spread about Chick-fil-A coming to Merced, Serratto said the response has been positive.

“People are making sure it’s not a joke,” Serratto said. “People are really excited about this.”
