COLDWATER — Mental health concerns, especially among young people, are growing. In response, Pines Behavioral Health along with the Youth Mental Health Project will be showing the award winning film “No Letting Go.”

Show times are 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Sept. 24 at Tibbits Opera House in Coldwater. Following each showing there will be an open discussion.

“No Letting Go” is a 2015 film addressing mental illness starring Cheryl Allison, Richard Burgi and featuring Kathy Najimy. It depicts the challenges faced when a child experiences mental illness, and the impact on the child, parents and entire family as they travel roads to recovery.

The COVID-19 pandemic has negatively impacted the world’s mental health system as anxiety, depression and mood disorders have increased — especially among youth.

This event offers the opportunity to talk openly about mental health conditions and understand the importance of mutual support.

Following each showing, Valerie Barton of the Youth Mental Health Project will discuss the importance of youth mental health.

Pines Behavioral Health is Branch County’s public behavioral health service authority, serving those with behavioral health conditions including members of the military and veterans, regardless of ability to pay.

Priority is given to youth and adults with a serious mental health, serious emotional concerns; those with intellectual/developmental disability and those with substance use disorder.

All residents are welcome to participate in Pines’ newest Branches Health & Wellness program — various classes and activities emphasizing the connection between physical and behavioral health.
