'We can no longer sustain the losses': Quaker Steak and Lube closes Florence location

After 11 years in business, the Quaker Steak and Lube in Florence closed its doors for good on Tuesday, the restaurant announced on Facebook.

The restaurant's post partially blamed the closure on a failure to fully rebound from the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as reduced accessibility from a barrier added last summer by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet to Kentucky Route 18.

"Unfortunately, we can no longer sustain the losses we have incurred," the post reads.

The restaurant chain says it will honor any coupons or certificates from the Florence location that customers may have.

The company will also help its Florence employees find positions at its other locations in Greater Cincinnati where available, the post reads. "The final decision to close has truly been a heart-wrenching one, as we are aware of the profound impact it will have on you."

Founded in 1974, the Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania-based restaurant chain operates more than 30 locations in 10 states, including restaurants in Colerain Township and Milford.
