No major injuries reported in East Fair Avenue house fire Tuesday morning

LANCASTER — A family has been displaced after a house fire Tuesday morning, but no major injuries were reported.

The fire was reported around 9:40 a.m. at 172 E Fair Ave. Lancaster firefighters arrived on scene shortly afterward, LFD Capt. Slade Schultz said.

He said there were four people home at the time of the fire. One resident called 9-1-1. The fire was contained around 10:15.

Schultz said the upstairs of the house is heavily damaged, and there's smoke damage throughout the house. The cause of the fire is unknown, but the investigation is continuing.

The Lancaster-Fairfield County Charity Newsies and the Red Cross were called to assist the eight residents living at the home, Schultz said. He added one person was treated and released at the scene for smoke inhalation.

Mutual aid was provided by the Pleasant Township, Hocking Township and Berne Township fire departments.
