Russian occupational authorities have been preparing sham referendums to “legitimize” the puppet authorities in the temporarily occupied areas, Ukraine’s Main Directorate of Intelligence reported on Apr. 19. Ukrainian intelligence has said that ballots, posters, and other “electoral literature” are being printed for voting in a referendum on the creation of a sham “Kherson People’s Republic.”

Independent Russian media outlet Meduza, citing sources in the Kremlin, said the possible dates for a “referendum” in Kherson Oblast could be May 14-15.

President Volodymyr Zelensky said that in order to falsify the “referendum”, Russian invaders are forcing local residents to submit their personal data, particularly when receiving “humanitarian aid”. At the same time, humanitarian aid from the Ukrainian side is blocked or stolen.
